Experience the Garden using ALL of your senses at our Seasonal Shinrin-yoku Series! Shinrin-yoku, or "forest bathing," is the Japanese philosophy of immersing yourself in the forest atmosphere in order to reap the restorative benefits. Forest bathing boosts immunity, lowers blood pressure and stress hormones, prevents and relieves stress and anxiety and increases cognitive functioning. Guided forest bathing walks are appropriate for all ages and abilities. Each session will end with a nature-based tea ceremony. Learn about the different brushes, paper, and paints and how to properly load a brush with color for flat washes, graded washes, and dry brush techniques. With summer in full swing, now is the time to celebrate the season and create beautiful Eco-Printed fabrics! Eco Printing is a natural dyeing technique that uses leaves, flowers, and other plant materials to create patterns and colors on fabric or paper. The process involves bundling plant materials and fabric together, then steaming or boiling the bundle to transfer the color and patterns from the plants to the fabric. In this creative class you will get to dye your own beautiful textiles in a palette of natural colors and shapes to create your own of a kind textile. Participants receive one silk scarf and one flour sack towel to work with and are encouraged to bring one item of their own to dye as well. Registration required.
