Big Plans for a Greater Garden

Pardon our dust: We are working toward meeting the growing needs of our community.

The Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden strives to be a place where all feel welcome to gather, grow and find their true nature. To ensure we are delivering toward that goal, the Welcome, Gather, Grow Campaign has funded many improvements, the first of which will be underway during summer 2025. Updates, and even some images, will be shared here as progress is made.

Construction:

The Evergreen Gallery is now open and updated. 

• Explore the new space in this short video
• See the current art exhibit as well as the updated Botany Lab, Agave and Juniper Rooms, plus Willow and Wisteria Rooms.
• Restrooms are all brand new along with a dedicated family restroom with a universal changing table made possible by a grant from Variety: The Children’s Charity.

The Gardeners Show House has been updated and is open again.

Next Phase of construction will not begin until spring 2026.
