Member Levels

Each membership is valid for one year and supports the mission of the Greater Des Moines Botanical garden. Benefits are subject to change, and we do not offer refunds on memberships. Active military receive a 10% discount on any membership level purchased onsite.

Senior | $50

  • Unlimited complimentary general admission and benefits for one adult, 65 years or older.

Student | $50

  • Unlimited complimentary general admission and benefits for one student.

Individual Plus | $75

  • Unlimited complimentary general admission and benefits for one member, plus one guest.

Family | $100

  • Unlimited complimentary general admission for up to 2 adults and any dependents under 18 years of age.
  • Allows up to 2 named members on the account.

Grandparent | $100

  • Unlimited complimentary general admission and benefits for up to 2 adults and any grandchildren under 18 years of age.
  • Allows up to 2 named members on the account.

Family Plus | $125

  • Unlimited complimentary general admission for 2 adults, dependents under 18 years of age, and 2 additional guests.
  • Allows up to 2 named members on the account.
  • One complimentary photography reservation per year.

Grandparent Plus | $125

  • For nonprofit organizations

  • Year-long pass for access instead of paying a location fee each time.
  • $100 for an additional photographer on the pass.

FAQs

Considering a Membership

How do I become a member? Memberships are available to purchase online or at the Botanical Garden Front Desk. If you have any trouble or would like to purchase over the phone, please call our Membership Manager at 515-323- 6265.

Can I change or upgrade my membership level in middle of my membership? You upgrade to a new level by paying the difference at any point. Please visit our front desk or call our Membership Manager at 515-323-6265 to upgrade. We do not offer refunds for memberships, but we can cancel a membership if you wish.

How long does it take to receive my digital membership card?
Digital membership cards will be sent to the email address provided within one week of purchase. If it has been more than two weeks since your order and you have not received your digital card, please contact [email protected] or call 515.323.6265.

Can I request a physical membership card rather than a digital membership card?
Of course! We are happy to print a membership card for you. Please email [email protected], or call 515.323.6265.

Managing My Membership

Can I visit with my membership if I don’t have a digital or printed card yet? Absolutely! Your membership is activated as soon as it is purchased. Provide the front desk your name and we will find you in our system. Please note that they may ask for ID if you do not have a card on hand.

Can I change the name or information on my membership after purchase? Yes, if you wish to change the name on your card, please email [email protected] or call 515.323.6265.

When will my membership expire? Memberships are valid for one year from the month you purchased it. Your expiration date is located on your digital membership card.

How do I cancel my membership? Memberships fees are nonrefundable, however, you may discontinue your membership at any time by emailing [email protected] or by calling 515-323-6265.

How can I upgrade my membership? Memberships may be upgraded at any time by paying the difference between your current level and the higher level. Upgrades do not change the expiration date. Upgrades can be made at our front desk or by calling our Membership Manager at 515-323-6265.

What is the tax deductibility of memberships? In compliance with IRS regulations, memberships may be tax deductible to the fullest legal extent of the law. It may depend on how which benefits you use so please contact your financial or legal aid to determine. Federal Tax ID: 42- 0540765

Gift Memberships

Do you have a flexible start date for gift memberships?
No, the gift membership is valid one year from the month it is purchased.

What do gift membership recipients receive?
Gift membership recipients will receive a gift certificate in the mail informing them of the gift. This gift certificate will be mailed one to two weeks after purchase and will include details on their new membership benefits. If preferred, you may choose to have the gift certificate sent directly to you (the giver). This will be the first notice they receive about the gift unless you share the news with them first.

Membership Benefits

Where can I find my membership benefits and promotions on the digital membership card? For Android users, navigate to the back of the digital card by clicking the details button (located near the bottom of the screen). Benefits are listed under “Membership Benefits.” For iPhone users, navigate to the back of the digital card by clicking the small “...” button (located on the front of your card, top right). Select Pass Details. Benefits are listed under “Membership Benefits.”

Are there any rules I should be aware of for my free portrait photography reservation? Members at the Family Plus, Grandparent Plus, or Garden Giving Club Donor levels are allowed one photography reservation per membership year. Photographer is not included, and some restrictions may apply. Member or Donor photography reservations must adhere to the photography guidelines and garden etiquette.

How do I schedule my free portrait photography reservation? Please complete our Photography Reservation Form. Once submitted, a member of our team will review your request and contact you within five business days.

How do I apply my membership discount for online purchases? When registering for a program or event, members must sign in to receive their members-only discount. From the registration page, click the Sign In button located at the top right of the webpage. Your login is the email address associated with your membership. If you have not created an account with your email address, please click register. If you have forgotten your password, please click reset. Your membership discount will appear after you click add to cart.

Digital Membership Card

I have not received my membership card what should I do? If a renewing member has noticed that their membership card has not updated in their wallet, please contact out Membership Manager at 515-323-6265. For new members, an email should go out within 2 weeks. You will be in our system so you may visit our garden before you receive the card.

How do I add the digital membership card to my iPhone? Access the email from your smartphone and click the download button. Follow the additional prompts on the screen and your card will automatically download to your iPhone’s Apple Wallet.

How do I add the digital membership card to my Android phone? Android users will first need to make sure the Google Wallet app is installed. Once installed, access the digital membership card email from your smartphone and click download. Follow the additional prompts and your card will automatically download to your Google Wallet app. In some cases, Google Wallet might ask you to log in so you can save it to an account. Please log in to continue (no credit card information should be required).

I would prefer to not use the digital membership card. What should I do? Please request one the next time you stop in and a manager can print one for you on site. You may also request one by emailing [email protected], or call 515-323-6265.

How do I share the digital membership card with the second named adult on the membership? Simply forward the email you received and ask them to click on the Download Membership Card button.

Where do I find my downloaded card? For iPhone users, your card will automatically download to the Apple Wallet app. Check the app for your new card (scroll through any cards already there – it may be hiding!). Click the green digital membership card to see your membership level and expiration date. For Android users, you will need to make sure Google Wallet is installed prior to downloading the card. Open the app and click on the green digital membership card to see your membership information.

Will I have to download a new digital card when I renew? You do not need to download a new digital card every time you renew. Your digital membership card expiration date will update automatically if your card is set-up to automatically update. Please note that it can take up to one week for the expiration date to refresh on your digital card (there is some manual entry on our end to complete the process!).

How do I make sure my card is set-up to automatically update? For Android users, cards downloaded to the Google Wallet app are set-up to automatically update. For iPhone users, navigate to the back of the digital card by clicking the small “...” button (located on the front of your card, top right). Select Notifications and verify that the “automatic updates” button is toggled ON.
