Holiday Lights in Des Moines
Displays of holiday lights in public venues are a popular part of the annual celebration of the season. The displays utilize twinkle lights in many ways, including decking towering Christmas trees in public squares, street trees and park trees, adorning lampposts and other such structures, decorating significant buildings such as town halls and department stores, and lighting up popular tourist attractions such as the Eiffel Tower, the Sydney Opera House, and now the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden!

A familiar pastime during the holidays is to drive or walk around neighborhoods in the evening to see the lights displayed on homes. A few have made it to the Extreme Christmas TV Specials shown on HGTV, at least one requiring a generator!
