Remember in September

Bulb Season is here now.

September is synonymous with pumpkin spice season. But at the Botanical Garden, remember every September how beautiful the outdoor gardens looked last spring. Want your own space at home like our gardens? September is the time to order from the over 80 varieties of unique bulbs offered every year.

Bold. Beautiful. Unexpected.

Each bulb collection is chosen by our horticulture staff for their beauty, Iowa hardiness, and distinctive nature. From a small tabletop garden to force the bulbs to bloom or creating your own Versailles (okay well maybe not quite that grand), you’ll be delighted with what you can grow!

Bulbs are Self-Sufficent & Easy-to-Grow

Bulbs provide consistent beauty with not much effort since each one comes ‘pre-packed’ with its own stored energy and desire to emerge.

Invest in Your Garden’s Future

When everything else in your garden is winding down, you can sow a little something to look forward to next year. Bulbs help suppress weeds, offer early nectar and pollen for emerging pollinators, and many varieties are perennial – returning every year to bring delight.

Chill…and Thrill

Bulbs need to overwinter to thrive. When they come up, they are often extraordinary and dramatic, adding vibrancy to a typically grey season.
