An event series celebrating Asian heritage and culture and the efforts of Governor Robert D. Ray to welcome Asian refugees to the State of Iowa. Join a series of unique experiences and immerse yourself in the culture and history of our community.

Asian Heritage & Celebration Art Exhibition Opening
Thursday, September 29, 6-9 p.m.
Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden
In partnership with the World Food Prize Organization and local artists, we invite you to our art exhibition opening featuring “Iowa SHARES”, a visual depiction of how Governor Ray welcomed refugees to Iowa along with artwork by artists of Asian descent.

The Ray Way Celebration

Join us for The Ray Way Celebration in the Robert D. Ray Asian Garden. This event is the final installment of The Ray Way, an event series celebrating Asian heritage and culture and the efforts of Governor Robert D. Ray to welcome Asian refugees to the state of Iowa.

In celebration of Halloween, come in a costume or come dressed as your favorite character and meet local cosplay enthusiasts. This family friendly event includes trick-or-treating, Asian treats and snacks by local vendors, performances, and a short program at 6:00 p.m. First 100 guests will take home a free lantern!

Events held at Robert D. Ray Asian Garden are free and open to the public. Events held at Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden are included with general admission.
