Have a houseplant that is overgrown or one you would like to have more of? In this hands-on workshop you’ll learn about the many ways to make more houseplants using vegetative propagation methods. Registration required.

Carnivorous Plants | Saturday, October 7, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
Get into the spooky season with some hungry plants at the Greater Des Moines BOOtanical Garden! Learn about different carnivorous plants, what they like to feast on, and how to keep their appetite in check. Then, choose your very own carnivorous plant to pot up and take home. This self-guided, drop-in style activity allows you to work at your own pace. Walk-up registration only. Available while supplies last. Botanical Garden admission not included. Incredible Edible Plants | Tuesday, October 17, 5:30-7 p.m.
Want to learn how to identify and successfully forage right here in Iowa? Foraging offers a variety of nutritional foods to those who take the time to look, and it encourages you to slow down and take in your surroundings while you enjoy the serenity of nature. Join local forager Lindsey Coyne of  Herb and Forage and learn how to identify edible plants, what plants are available during each season, and how to utilize wild plants in your everyday life. Cozy up this fall with your very own personalized candle. Learn the art of scent selection, candle pouring, and candle decoration with With Love, Libby. Select or mix a fall-themed scent to create your favorite candle to light this autumn. Decorate your soy wax candle with dried florals and fruits, so your candle will smell and look amazing! Pitcher plants, Venus fly traps, and sundew! OH MY! Learn about a variety of carnivorous plants, their bizarre adaptations for survival, and how to take care of them. Haunt the Greater Des Moines BOOtanical Garden after hours as you dive into the spooky world of plants during Halloween Happy Hour. Learn about the creepy and wild side of the plant world from BOOtanical Garden staff. Then feed some of our carnivorous plants—before they find a meal for themselves!
